56 year old woman who was a non-smoker presented with persistent cough for a few months and weight loss.
The upper lobe of the lung shows a discrete but unencapsulated subpleural mass. Cut surface shows a pale, well demarcated fleshy tan tumour with focal necrosis. The visceral pleura may have been breached. Rest of lung is blackened. The bronchial tree appears intact. No enlarged hilar lymph nodes are discernible.
