75 year old man with history of hypertension and myocardial infarct several years ago.
The hypertrophied left ventricle shows
marked thinning of the anterior half of the myocardium which has largely been replaced by fibrous scar tissue. This was the area of previous infarction. Note dilatation of the ventricular chamber. This area is weakened and prone to aneurysm formation.
